The six characteristics of living things:

-consists of one or more cell

-responds to the things around it

-is able to reproduce, grow and develop

-has a life span

-requires food, water and oxygen

-produces waste

Vocab

organism- any living thing. Must consist of all six characteristics to be considered a true living thing.

cell theory- the ideas that all living things consist of cells and all new cells can only form from older cells. The cell theory helps scientists understand the bodies of plants and animals.
